This high-strength, quench and tempered alloy steel is perfect for heavy vehicle parts, construction and repairs. A high strength material with a yield strength over 100 ksi, QT-100 (ASTM A514) is used in a multitude of applications, including:

  • Heavy vehicle frames and chassis

  • Transport trailers

  • Construction and agricultural equipment

  • Welded bridge structural members

The American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) created standards for ASTM A514 in order to establish engineering criteria in the 1950s when it was introduced as an alternative to traditionally heavy alloyed and expensive armour steel. The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) then renamed the grade CSA-G420.21 100QT during the 1980s. With the exception of minor modifications, ASTM A514’s specifications have been maintained since they were written, maintaining a high standard of quality for this grade. Mill test reports (MTRs) are available upon request with any order.
